Important point, and I also wonder about the question of psychology and the veracity of the self-elected responses that are received.

In plain language, when everyone around you seems to be talking about how dreadful the recession is and that growth is impossible, it maybe gets to feel like the recession is dreadful and growth is impossible.

I suppose it comes down to what it is that respondents were being asked to address and in which format they were asked to respond in.
